What's going on???

Nothing spectacular is going on really but I'll get you up to date... I've not posted on blogger in a LONG time; and yahoo group that was in use for our family didn't pan out... so here we go!!! I'm going to do my best to update this site weekly. Really, it's a journal for ME - so no pressure to read it. I'm not expecting any awards... Ezra's doing great in school and Jesse's growing like a weed...I've been really working hard with him on sign language and I see it paying off and I'm so glad that I have stuck with it! Jonathon watches the sign language tutorial and video with him daily and helps him too. He doesn't do it quite as much as I do, but he does do 'no-no' and drink sometimes with him. I'd rather show him no-no then tell him sometimes, and it works, he really does pay attention to the sing language! Ezra is learning signs too, and that's fun for him to do with Jesse - they sit and play together and Ezra will use signs for shoes, bear, cat, dog, bunny, etc. Jesse is so funny, you do the sign for book - or the video comes on to the part about book, and he grabs the Pat the Bunny book you got him. When we do shoes, or he sees the movie tutorial on shoes, he gets shoes. It's amazing. Ezra is constantly amazed that his brother can do stuff, in general. Jonathon's working hard for us; he's picked up alot of freelance work to supplement some income and help destroy debt. He's really pushing hard to get us in a much better position financially. I know the benefits from my being home with the boys far outweigh the loss of income we took from my staying home to work. Still, bills must be paid!!! So - I work from home and he works 2 jobs for us. He's a great husband, father and provider. Summer's coming quickly - and Ezra's looking forward to being out of school. We plan to have a summer of outdoor fun! Ezra will go to summercamp 1/2 of the time - we know how much he looks forward to it each year, but this year we'll likely only sign up for 1/2 or less. We're hoping to visit our texican family this summer too... haha Heather. Well, that's all for now - I'll try to update again during the week.

1st birthday party!

Jesse turned 1!!! Jesse's first birthday party was so fun! We had friends, family and lots of goodies! He did not get into the cake as I hoped, but that's ok - he's health concious at an early age :) HA.
Jesse had such a great time today, and he was in such good spirits to be surrounded by what must have seemed like chaos to him. He played, laughed, and was the star of his party. He LOVED the tissue paper with the gifts!!! He got lots of books, toys and even some $$ to spend on what he needs. But most importantly, he received lots of love from people who love him dearly. Thanks to everyone who came to his party, it means more then you'll ever know!!!

Happy Birthday, my little boy
you're growing up so fast
I wish these moments of our lives
did not so quickly pass

A day for the park!

Some recent photos from our neighborhood park. Ezra loves to goof off, so I have captured his true personality on camera! Jesse loved sliding down the slides with Daddy - he is so eager to do this by himself!!

Things going on.

I hope everyone's had a good summer. We had a great one! Ezra spent the summer swimming at Piedmont Primary Academy while Jesse and I stayed home and worked on learning turning over and over, and saying 'mama'! Now we're working on 'dada'.... although I'm partial to hearing 'mama' for now. Ezra passed the swim test at PPA and got to swim most of the summer in the deep end, which was a huge deal for any kid there. He's lost several teeth and is actually getting taller. Jonathon and I are doing ok. Just taking it day by day - I'm still working from home, and Jonathon's picking up alot of freelance. Sometimes I feel like all he does at night is work.

Mothers Day

Today reminded me of the first time I heard his tiny heartbeat... I wanted to write a few words that come to mind when thinking of being a mommy to a precious little baby boy.... A quote from Maureen Hawkins " Before you were conceived I wanted you, Before you were born I loved you, Before you were here an hour I would die for you, That is the miracle of life." I've begun to learn that children make the heart too big for the body, and to hold close to you the things you cherish. I hope everyone had a great mothers day - for me - I remembered that there's no greater miracle then a child being born... a

The new boy is here!!

Jesse entered the world with a bang! After 23 hours of labor, several hours of 'trying' to get here - Dr. Wagoner put a stop to all of my efforts and required a c-section after finding that Jesse just wouldn't budge! He would have been born with shoulder distocia - so I'm thankful for her decision. He weighed in at 7lbs and was 19.25in long - and simply ADORABLE! A few complications during surgery - but nothing that Dr. W couldn't handle - Jesse and I are doing great! Ezra seems proud, and nervous about being a big brother. Jonathon handled the operating room much better then I did. HA! All grandparents were present and proud. He is finally here - thank goodness, because I was MISERABLE!

One full year of miracles...

For all who know us - it's been 1 year of healthy heart living now. I wanted to just post this...

Words are hard for me when it comes to remembering all that this year’s brought us. You know that this week marks the one year anniversary of a 2nd lease on life. I like to look at is OUR second lease on a life together as a family with the E-man, and as a husband and wife that are still very much newlyweds. You know that Richard had asked me several times to give him a bible scripture that meant something to “our” household; that meant something to our everyday life. I never knew why he wanted it, but I immediately had 3 special scriptures that I found very important to me while my hubby was in the hospital, in surgery and trying to recover. The one I chose was Psalm 17:8 “Guard me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.” It went along with a note in a book that said “The storms of life can’t be avoided. Often they’re completely unannounced. But just as the mother eagle protects her young, God protects those he loves, and he will take you under his wings and give you the strength to endure. God will never leave you alone to face your problem.”

As I think back on how much I depended on nothing ever happening to us like this (totally naive of me), it really humbles me to see how much we’ve overcome and been through. Jonathon went from what seemed to be just void of spirit to full of life in an instant right before my eyes in the hospital – I’ve never sat and told him of the things that I’ve wanted too about that hospital stay; mainly because I’ve felt like putting it behind us and into the past and moving on to a healthy new life. There were nights, and still are that I wake up and put my hand on his face to make sure he's really there, that he's breathing. I actually wake up several times a week to this day and put my arms around him, just to feel a heart beat.

One year has passed; and I feel like it’s been a year of major changes in our marriage, in our love for each other. I can’t imagine our marriage w/o this past year – though it came with a lot of trying times – it has certainly made us both look at what’s important in life. I feel like before I took certain things for granted… I have a husband who I can laugh with, cry with (mainly me doing the crying), disagree with and compromise with. He's my best friend, the person I tell even my weirdest stuff too – even some things he’d probably rather not hear! Without that I’d be lost.

Finding out that I’m pregnant really put me at a standstill. I was where I thought I wanted to be in our life – where I was comfortable with being a step-mom and wife, and woman. Thinking back to even the moment I found out for sure he consistently stayed calm and patient while I freaked out and cried that "I didn’t plan this and it’s not the right time". All the while he's just very simply “ok with it”. I’ll never forget that he said to me “we’ll just deal with it like we always deal with everything, this is just the way our lives work and it’ll be fine, it always is”. STILL I doubt myself, I doubt my ability to give enough to this baby boy. But I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that as long as we love each other, and show that to both kids – that no matter the problem, it will work out. That has been the foundation of this year for me – our love and patience for each other during trying times only gets stronger.

Your newest family member to be...

We officially know what baby boy "peanut" looks like (somewhat with all the smushiness in my belly)... Just thought you'd be interested in seeing him for yourself with today's technology.

That's our handsome angel.
